Perfect Fifths-Megan McCafferty

The fifth and last Jessica Darling book. :(

When I started the series I thought Jessica was a little bit whiny. Now as I reflect I see that she was 16. In this book she is 26 and she is working. This book is set at an airport where Jessica and Marcus spend the day together. We learn about their lives and what has happened during the 3 years that happened between book 4 and 5. We learn about their friends, careers, and feelings for each other.

I think this book did a great job of finishing up the series and it also made me wish for more to come.

Fourth Comings-Megan McCafferty

The fourth of the Marcus/Jessica saga. This book was Jessica's journal to Marcus that takes place during one week in September. Jessica does some more growing in this book well she ponders an important question that would change her life :)

Jessica spends a lot of time with her niece in this book and her niece reminds me of mine. They are the same age and both so smart and so insightful at such a young age. Jessica's relationship with her sister really moved me in this book and again reminded me of how my own sister and I got closer as I got older and she had kids.

I really enjoyed this book and seeing Jessica older and trying to find her place in the world after college.

Charmed Thirds-Megan McCafferty

The third Jessica Darling book and I think my favorite so far. I read a lot of reviews before going into this book and people didn't seem to like this book. I loved it.
In this book Jessica is writing in her journal during her breaks from Columbia University. She is going through some drama with Marcus in the whole book. She is also going through what typical college students go through when they are trying to find out who they are and what the future holds for them.
I really liked seeing her grow and also her relationships with her parents and sister grow. She made and lost friends and that is how it goes.
I started Fourth Comings last night.

My Second Dose of Jessica Darling

Second Helpings is the second book in the Jessica Darling series. She is a senior in this book and she is the same old Jessica, but with a little bit of a spark about her.

I liked this one much better than the first. Jessica does so much growing in this book. She is graduating the same year that I did so maybe that helps me relate to her that much more. Her recounts of September 11th took me right back to my Senior English class watching tv. I knew her feelings and what was going on in her head.

I really enjoyed watching her relationships with others grow in this book; her and her family, her and her friends, her and Marcus, and even her and her sister. They were all done in a real fashion.

I will be reading Charmed Thirds soon I hope.

Sloppy Firsts

Continuing with my Young Adult obsession I picked this book up after hearing how much Jessica over at Reading is Sexy liked it. From the very first page I realized that I was going to identify with the main character.

Jessica's best friend moved away and Sloppy Firsts follows her through dealing with high school without her. She hates her friends that she does have at the school. He best guy friend actually likes her as more, but she doesn't like him. For some reason she keeps thinking about the school's bad boy. Jessica does anything possible to stay away from her parents as she thinks that her mom likes her sister better and her dad is always pressuring her.

I can't wait to see what happens in the next book between Jessica and Marcus.
